Foreman / Team Lead

Serves as a working foreman by supervising and performing tree trimming and preservation work; does related work as required. Under general supervision, supervises and assists in semi-complex manual labor tasks related to tree trimming. Assures tree trimming orders of tree surgeon or other superior are executed properly. Supervision is exercised over a small number of tree trimmers and laborers.

Qualifications:

  • At least 1-3 years of experience in rope and saddle.
  • Prefect for a degree in Arboriculture, Forestry, Horticulture, Environmental Science, Plant Science, Outdoor Recreation or a related field
  • Current driver’s license
  • Able to lift at least 75 pounds to shoulder height
  • Ability to climb at least 40’ up a rope and climb a tree
  • Ability to pass a drug screen
  • Other qualifications will be presented during the interview process

Compensation:

Very competitive, based on qualifications and experience, time and a half over 40 hours per week

Arborist

We need someone to obtain leaf and tree samples for research by climbing with the aid of a ladder, safety belt, climbing line, or bucket truck. The position also includes working from the ground using hand-powered saws, pruner, etc. The job includes trimming/removing trees while lowering the tree to the ground with lines.

Qualifications:

  • At least 1-5 years of experience in rope and saddle.
  • Prefect for a degree in Arboriculture, Forestry, Horticulture, Environmental Science,
  • Plant Science, Outdoor Recreation or a related field
  • Current driver’s license
  • Able to lift at least 75 pounds to shoulder height
  • Ability to climb at least 40’ up a rope and climb a tree
  • Ability to pass a drug screen

Tree Trimmer/Climber

Tree Trimmers and Climbers of Ostvig Tree handle the removal and maintenance of trees. Using sophisticated climbing and rigging techniques, cut away dead or excess branches from trees or shrubs to maintain right-of-way for roads, sidewalks, or utilities, or to improve appearance, health, and value of tree. Prune or treat trees or shrubs using handsaws, hand pruners, clippers, and power pruners. Works off the ground in the tree canopy and may use truck-mounted lifts.

Plant Health Care Technician (summer only)

Spraying trees and plants to protect against disease & harmful insects. Diagnose and troubleshoot clients’ sites pertaining to plant health care needs. Perform fertilization, disease, and insect control treatments. Work collaboratively with clients and co-workers to achieve maximum success.

Qualifications:

  • No experience necessary.
  • Need to be at least 18 years of age
  • Need to be able to work full time from mid-April to at least August
  • It will be long hours, hard physical labor, and getting dirty. However, the compensation is very rewarding.
  • We will do all on the job training.
